My Thoughts:

Prejudice Meets Pride is the kind of romance novel I love. Clean romance where the woman falls in love with a true gentleman. Emma Mackie has worked hard all her life to make ends meet. She’s tired of taking handouts and feeling like those that give it are looking down on her. She’s determined to do things on her own.  Meanwhile next-door-neighbour Kevin Grantham has led the life of one of the wealthy upper class. His dad is a senator and his mother wants him to marry someone with the right background and connections.

I love it when the books we read for pleasure also remind us of important life lessons. Prejudice Meets Pride does just that. Every relationship requires give and take. Everyone has to be a taker once in a while because no one is totally self-sufficient. That’s what Emma was trying to be. What she learned was that she needed to be a graceful taker so that others could have the pleasure of being a giver.

Kevin on the other hand was like those of us who desperately vow that we will never do the things our parents did. But he found himself being just like his mother, judging people by their appearance. Fortunately for him, he recognized this trait in himself and did something about it. His situation reminds me of a saying I once heard. “Don’t ASSUME anything. It makes an ASS out of U and ME.”

I liked each of the characters in this novel. If anything, other than the receptionist at the dental office, they were almost too perfect. You couldn’t ask for better neighbours than Becky and Sam. Kevin is the neighbour “to die-for” who is always there to lend a hand and seems to have all the right connections. Though we don’t see much of Noah, it’s obvious he is an amazing father to Kajsa and Adelynn. These two little girls are very sweet, though I did at times feel they were a wee bit spoiled since they needed to be bribed to do what they were told more often than I thought they should have been.

I thoroughly enjoyed Prejudice Meets Pride. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good clean romance novel. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
