stranded  Stranded (Alaskan Courage #3)
When her friend vanishes from a cruise ship, reporter Darcy St. James isn't satisfied with their explanation that she simply left her job of her own accord. Something isn't lining up, and Darcy believes the only way to find the truth is to put herself in Abby's position. Within days, Darcy learns her friend wasn't the only person to disappear mysteriously. Last summer, a woman vanished under almost identical circumstances. Gage McKenna has taken a summer-long stint leading adventure excursions for the passengers of various cruise lines that dock for a few days of sightseeing. He's surprised to find Darcy working aboard one of the ships, investigating a troubling report. Something sinister is going on and the deeper they dig the more Gage fears they've only discovered the tip of the iceberg.

Dani Pettrey is a wife, homeschooling mom and author. She feels blessed to write inspirational romantic suspense because it incorporates so many things she loves–the thrill of adventure, nail-biting suspense, the deepening of one’s faith and plenty of romance. She’s a huge fan of dark chocolate, is always in search of the best iced mocha and her dream is to one day own a little cottage on a remote stretch of beach. She and her husband reside in Maryland with their two teenage daughters.

My Thoughts:

Stranded is the third book in the Alaskan Courage series by Dani Pettrey. This was truly an inspirational romantic suspense novel. Packed with loads of adventure and mystery, this book was an excellent read. Stranded pushes you to think about current issues as well, such as the problem of sex trafficking. No, we don’t read anything X-rated, as it is a wonderfully clean romance (there is only some kissing) and no worries about offensive language either (Yay!!)

The book starts off very strongly with the disappearance of Darcy’s friend Abby. Abby is an undercover investigative reporter, working as an excursion chef on the Alaskan cruise ship, Bering. Darcy arrives on board the ship to help Abby just before Abby disappears overboard. It’s Darcy’s search for answers that drive the action in the story.

I thought that Pettrey provided some good character development in this book. We learn about the tragedy that makes Gage so bitter, and the history that Jake is hiding. It would probably be a good idea to read the first two books in the series first (I didn’t) as there are several references to what has previously happened with the McKenna clan, but it doesn’t seriously impact the ability to follow the story in this book.

The characters feel very real, and we are allowed to see them with all their good qualities and their flaws. It is watching them deal with, and sometimes overcome their issues that make this book inspirational. I thought this book was very well-written.
I give this book 4 stars

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review. A free product does not influence my opinion. All thoughts are my own.

  3. Good review -- I like the entire series! Since I took a cruise to Alaska many years ago, this brought back fond memories for me -- not that I had to dealt with human trafficking or anything like that.
