My Thoughts:
When the files in
the veterinarian’s clinic that Joy Davidson works in show the animals to have
some extremely rare diseases and the animals to be on experimental drugs, Joy
becomes suspicious. Coupled with an overheard conversation, Joy decides to tell
her sister Special Agent Julie Ann Duncan of the FBI and ask for help to figure
out what’s going on. Before she has an opportunity to look at the copies of the
files that Joy copied, Ann Duncan interrupts a home invader intent on killing
Joy.
With several cases
on the go, Patrick away on a university tour and a special mission from the
director, Ann’s hands are full. I liked that the author made it clear that her
main characters were not just relying on their own strength to accomplish their
tasks but were giving credit to God for the answers to their prayers. Their
faith was clearly seen.
I found it very
interesting how the twists and turns worked themselves out in the various
different cases the Davidson’s had. It’s very difficult to say more than that
without spoilers. The quick pace of the story kept things moving along quite
nicely.
I think what I liked
most about this particular book in the series is that it shows how difficult it
can be to have a normal home life when one or both parents are FBI agents
(assuming that actual FBI agents work hours like Ann and Patrick Duncan). I
think that’s why I liked that they connected regularly by phone and skype while
they were apart.
As with all the Heartfelt Cases, The Davidson Case is an excellent novel in the mystery and suspense
category and I would highly recommend it. I gave it 5 stars out of 5.
