Have you ever been
afraid of the dark or thought there were monsters that lived under the bed that
came out at night? Perhaps your children do. Most children go through a period
in their lives with this fear. This book is perfect for them. Perfect for you
too because it is something you can read together and use to help them overcome
their fear of the dark.
The pictures that go
with the story are simple, but go well with the story and almost explain the
story by themselves. The cover picture is excellent as it shows Tommy’s fear of
the dark as the monster he calls the Murky Shadow.
I liked how the
author gave control over the fear of the dark to the child simply by teaching
the child he or she had the power over it with courage and the ability to turn
on the light switch.
I think this is a
good book to help children develop courage, self-esteem and understand that
they don’t have to be afraid of the dark. I gave it 4 stars.
Thank you to the
author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest
review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
