Amazon Synopsis:

Caitlyn Davies has an unusual gift. She knows exactly what people feel. She sees their true reactions, every time. Everyone wears a mask, but she can see the truth hiding behind it. This ability has changed her life, both for the better and the worse. She can choose to ignore what she sees...but what happens when it involves the guy she loves?

Eric Shore knew getting involved with a girl who could read people was risky, but he couldn't help himself. Caitlyn is gorgeous and he loves being with her. Things have been going great...until she tells Eric that his step-brother and star basketball player, Connor,

is doing drugs. Having looked up to the guy for years, Eric just can't buy it. Things only get worse when Caitlyn starts to question the true nature of Eric's favorite teacher at UCLA.

Their first year at college together was supposed to be amazing, but their relationship is off to a rocky start, especially when Caitlyn refuses to deny what she's seen in order to keep her boyfriend happy. As more and more masks are peeled away, Caitlyn is thrown into a dangerous world where secrets are exposed and Eric once again has to decide whether dating Caitlyn is worth the risk. It doesn't take long for the young couple to realize that even those closest to you can be two-faced.

My Thoughts:

Caitlyn Davis is in her first semester at UCLA. She’s not really enjoying it. She doesn’t care for her dorm-mate who’s a neat-freak and girlfriend to Eric’s (her boyfriend’s) dorm-mate. She’s disappointed that every time she and Eric try to have sex for the first time they get interrupted and have to put it off. Then they find out that the guy that was abusing their friend Indie and threatened Caity’s life just died in a car crash not far away. To top it off Caity’s getting weird vibes from one of Eric’s professors but Eric is enamoured with this professor and doesn’t want to hear about it.

She starts to get frustrated with her ability to take the masks off people and read their emotions when she goes with Eric to his step-brother’s basketball game and sees something wrong with everyone one the team. None of them are wearing their masks. They all seems hyped on something like they are high or drugged. Eric doesn’t believe her. He says his step-brother would never take drugs and so she decides to investigate on her own.

Caitlyn definitely sticks her nose in where it doesn’t belong, but it’s a good thing she does because there is definitely more going on than there appears to be at first glance. The author has a knack for developing several nuggets of disparate information and then weaving them into one cohesive web of logic. Thankfully the authorities are involved in this one, though the authorities put Caitlyn and her friends in more danger than they have ever put themselves in. Will they get them out in time?

There are lots of plot twists and turns and unexpected outcomes. For those of you who are concerned about language and sexual content there is profanity in this book as well as moderate sexual content.

I thought that the character development was good and Caitlyn and Eric are realizing that honesty between couples is so important. This may be a spoiler for some so if you don’t like spoilers, skip this paragraph. Secrets should be avoided except in the case of a surprise (of course) and he is coming to the conclusion that he wants her in his life for always. But to my disappointment his idea of having her in his life for always is to sleep with her, not to marry her, not to commit his life to her forever.

I very much enjoyed the plot and storyline of Two Faced though I disagree with the morals. I gave the book 4 stars out of 5.

Thank you to the publishers for providing a copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
