Mitch
Albom was born May 23, 1958 in Passaic, New Jersey. He now lives in
Detroit, MI with his wife Janine.
He
is an internationally renowned journalist, screenwriter, playwright, best-selling
author, musician, and radio and television broadcaster . He has sold more than
35 million copies of his books in forty-four languages world wide.

Albom is also a philanthropist who has founded several charities including The
Dream Fund, A Time To Help, and S.A.Y Detroit (dedicated to
improving the lives of the neediest), A Hole in the Roof Foundation (helps
faith groups of every denomination who care for the homeless) and Have
Faith Haiti Mission (for the safety, education, health and spiritual
development of Haiti’s impoverished children and orphans). Working Homes/Working
Families works to providie homes for working families in need of decent
housing.
Albom
also participates in a variety of activities including performances with The
Rock Bottom Remainders, a band made up of writers and authors which includes
Stephen King, Dave Barry, Scott Turow, Amy Tan and Ridley Pearson in order to
raise money for literacy projects.
